Explore Breaker Morant Drive – A Stroll Through History
Take a leisurely walk or short drive along Breaker Morant Drive, a 500-metre circuit encircling the oval at Kitchener Park, just off Conadilly Street in Gunnedah.
This historic route pays tribute to Harry Harbord "Breaker" Morant, born in Bideford, England in 1865, who migrated to Australia at 19. Known for his skill as a drover and horse breaker, Morant earned the nickname "The Breaker" for his ability to tame wild horses—and, as legend suggests, hearts as well!
During the 1890s, Morant worked at Pullaming Station near Gunnedah. Local stories recall him riding horses over jumps at Kitchener Park, including the famous "The Rattler", a horse he broke in that went on to hold the Australian high jump record for several years.
In 2002, a commemorative plaque was unveiled in Kitchener Park to honour Gunnedah's connection to the Boer War and mark the centenary of Morant and Handcock's execution.
Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply looking for a pleasant walk, Breaker Morant Drive offers a unique glimpse into Gunnedah's rich heritage.
Breakr is Canberra’s very own 'Smash Room'.
A smash room is a dedicated space for breaking plates, mugs, glasses, vases and other fragile items (all provided by them!) in a safe space, either by throwing them at the walls or by using the tools provided. Breakr is a great way to have some fun and relieve stress!
While it is true that they break a lot of items, they aren't creating any additional waste.
All items they break are sourced from local Op Shops and Charities in Canberra. However, we only take items that are unable to be sold and are on their way to be disposed of.
This is a 14 years and over establishment.
The Breakwater Lighthouse is located at Wollongong Harbour just opposite Belmore Basin. It was commissioned in 1872 and the height of the tower is 42 feet (12.8 metres).
This now disused lighthouse was initially powered by vegetable oils and in the 1910s by gas. It was a prefabricated structure. A larger, improved lighthouse on the headland replaced it in the 1930s.
There is no public access inside the lighthouse.
At Breakwater Marina, they welcome new visitors to experience their North Queensland lifestyle. Steps from the CBD and tucked beside leafy parklands and dining hotspots, their marina is open seven days with a convenient self-serve, 24-hour Fuel Wharf.
They offer 325 berths for vessels up to 45 metres, with flexible Short- and Long-Term options to suit visiting cruisers and home-port locals.
Unleaded/Diesel are available on their easy-access Fuel Wharf, along with Ice and Gas. Guests also enjoy the use of their two-hour Courtesy Car—perfect for quick runs to the shops or exploring their tropical city.

A celebration of Campbelltown’s thriving Pacific community, and the extensive connections between people, plants, animals and all living things.
A bold, collaborative public artwork created by award-winning artists and designers Victoria Garcia and Bayvick Lawrance. The work is an ambitious intersection of two artists, two cultures, two buildings and two creative disciplines, brought together by the concept of ‘high fashion meets street art’.
The work subtly changes with the movement of light: mornings conjure a shimmering lace underwater effect, and the afternoon light enflames the rainbow sequins.
Commissioned by Campbelltown City Council, 2022. With special thanks to Goldwar Pty Ltd, Zois Pty Ltd, Vivid Advisory & Sabsabi Video. Proudly funded by the NSW Government through the CBD Revitalisation Fund.
