This walk allows you to enjoy expansive views of the Victorian Alps on a clear day. In the Springtime you will see a variety of beautiful wildflowers including orchids. The walk initially follows the Friends Track southeast from Wenhams Camp and ends at Boilerwood Track. For the best views, do not take the first turn off Friends Track, but take the second turn about 500 metres past Mt Warby. The track branches off sharply to the right. Follow this in a clockwise direction. After a quite steep descent, the track reaches Boilerwood Track. Continue for only one kilometre and watch for a walking track off it to the right that will bring you back to Mt Warby and Friends Track (this last track is also part of the Salisbury Walk). This walk is two kilometres one-way. Allow two hours to complete this Grade three walk. A moderate level of fitness is required.

Amazing Sign

Amazing Sign

Imagine travelling along the stock route, discovering a massive word nestled amongst the dry golden grasses and majestic red river gums. A word that would get its feet wet in floods, say "G'day" to the passing cattle and drovers in the dry times and glisten in the frosty mornings on a sunny winter's day...that would be amazing! 'Amazing', spelt out in two and a half metre high red letters, was the first large-scale sculpture to be installed on the Sculpture Down the Lachlan trail. The letters are made from eight tonnes of steel, sub-framed with heavy plate and a three-millimetre powder-coated outer skin. 'Amazing' is a wonderful example of community enthusiasm and energy. This sculpture was designed by local artist Rosie Johnston, and fabricated and installed by local farmers, tradespeople and engineers who volunteered their time, in true country spirit. The Amazing Forbes NSW destination brand, adopted by Forbes Shire Council in 2017, is based off the iconic sculpture's typography and vibrant red colour.

Ambergate Reserve

Ambergate Reserve is a 75-hectare regional park that protects the remnants of scrubland and woodlands once common along the coastal plains of Busselton. The reserve is ablaze with wildflowers in spring - but at any time of the year, the four-kilometre loop walk trail offers the visitor a chance to observe an amazing variety of plants and wildlife. Over 360 plant species have been recorded at Ambergate Reserve. From tall trees and shrubs such as marri, jarrah, peppermints, banksia and snottygobble, to creepers and ground covers and 26 species of orchid! Many animal species inhabit the reserve, and while some are active during the day, many others are only seen at night, while 'spotlighting'. There is also an enormous variety of birds found here. The birdlife varies greatly by season, with the reserve being used by many migratory species. When visiting the reserve it is important to follow the path and adhere to all signage. To prevent the spread of the dieback fungus that threatens native plant species in the southwest, visitors are asked to use the footwear cleaning stations at the entrance to the trail and the junctions.
