Jack Brown Lions Park

Located on the Flinders Highway beside Lakeview Caravan Park, Jack Brown Lions Park War Memorial is Richmond's principal war memorial and a place of remembrance for the local community. Dedicated on 25 April 2001, the memorial symbolises three rifles marking the graves of three ANZAC soldiers who lost their lives at the Battle of the Somme during the First World War. Inspired by the original battlefield crosses, which were made from artillery shells and ammunition boxes, the memorial features a striking steel cross extending beyond the uprights. The memorial includes Rolls of Honour recognising men and women from the Richmond region who served and died in Australia's conflicts, along with individual plaques honouring veterans. The three supporting struts display badges representing Australia's defence services. Surrounded by shady trees and green lawns, the park is an ideal place for travellers to relax. Facilities include clean public toilets, picnic tables and ample parking, including spaces suitable for caravans and motorhomes. Visitors can also explore the collection of unique moon rocks displayed throughout the park. Julia Creek Artesian Baths

Julia Creek Artesian Baths

Artesian water is underground water confined and pressurised within a porous and permeable geological formation and the waters are generally 38 degrees Celsius to 41 degrees Celsius. The water is extracted from bores which are over 900 metres deep, and is laced with minerals such as sulphur, calcium and magnesium that contribute to its long-fabled healing powers. In 2016 the McKinlay Shire Council developed the concept of the Artesian Baths based on a rain water tank theme and each bath was named after one of the major river systems in the Shire. Locating the baths at the Caravan Park provided the opportunity for visitors to enjoy the amazing sunsets and a viewing deck was added to the Boundary Hut baths where guests can stay longer and enjoy the view during the experience. For travellers, there are few things more relaxing than slipping into a luxurious Artesian Bath at the end of a long day driving.
