Finch Hatton MTB Pump Track spans 400m and offers a huge range of hump styles and sizes for riders of all ages and skill levels to enjoy. The track also hosts racing events and is located at the Finch Hatton MTB Trailhead. The pump track is a continuous loop of rollers, berms and jumps around which riders can ride bicycles by using a pumping motion. By using a pumping motion, riders can maintain their speed around the pump track without pedalling. Keep moving your hip, legs and arms and keep the rhythm. If you push and pull powerfully, you get really fast. Finch Hatton MTB Pump Track was designed and constructed by pump track specialist, Bike Tracks Australia.

An easy walk that can be enjoyed by pretty much everyone, the Finchley cultural walk gives people a real understanding and respect for one of the best Aboriginal sites in Australia, the Finchley Aboriginal engravings. It’s a short walk with informative signs along the way giving insight into the Aboriginal culture of the area. Come in spring or autumn when conditions are ideal in this lush bushland setting. When the sun is out, you’ll see heaps of goannas, and, in spring, the red and yellow grevilleas and cream and yellow geebungs add gorgeous colour to what is already a stunning landscape.

Inspired by Tasmania's unique land, sea, flora and fauna, FIND's designer/makers use a variety of precious and semi-precious gems, metals and other natural materials such as Tasmania's renowned native timbers to make their unique pieces. FIND Collective is a long-established business which the artists staff themselves. They are very up to speed with local information as well as knowledge of the science and art of making beautiful jewellery. As well as the shop in the Salamanca Arts Centre, they also have a comprehensive Facebook page, Instagram site and website with an online shop, and are happy to take orders over the phone.

Located along the Coastal Trail between the Fingal Picnic Ground on Cape Schanck Road and Gunnamatta, this beach is accessed by step steps. With more than 400 steps, a visit to this spectacular beach is not for the faint hearted but is worth the visit if you are up for the long climb back to the trail. The walk will from Cape Schanck Road to Fingal Beach will take approximately 30 minutes each way. This long sandy beach is not patrolled and the reefs and rocks make this a dangerous beach for swimming and surfing. Dogs are not permitted on this beach or on the Coastal Trail.

This white sand beach sits on a narrow peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and the Tweed River. Fingal Head Beach is calm and secluded, with few crowds and sparkling sunrises. It’s regularly patrolled during the summer months and swimmers are advised to always swim between the flags. Walk around to the headland, which is an incredible basalt rock formation formed by lava flows more than 20 million years ago. Around 600 metres offshore is Cook Island, which sits in a protected marine reserve and is a great place for snorkelling. Look out for groupers, trevally, surgeonfish and parrotfish.

Historical Sites and Heritage Locations
Fingal Head Lighthouse was erected in 1872 of stone and painted white, the tower had a fixed white light of 1,000 candelas. Although the light tower is not high it is built on a low headland. The light is effective as it is built on one of the most easterly points of Australia with plenty of deep water offshore. The original kerosene wick burner was converted to automatic acetylene operation in 1920 with an output of 1,500 candelas and altered to group flashing. The one keeper was withdrawn at this time. There is no record of the opening of this light considered so insignificant that apparently the first keeper did not think the matter of sufficient importance to take a record of the official opening. The lighthouse can be reached with a short walk through remnant coastal rainforest to the headland but the tower itself is closed to the public.

The Finke 2 Mile campground sits on the Finke River, near the Mt Sonder Lookout in the Tjoritja / West MacDonnell National Park, around 130 kilometres west of Alice Springs. The campground is accessible by 4WD only. Campers need to be fully self sufficient, as no facilities are provided. Camping fees apply and campsites must be booked online before you arrive. Finke 2 Mile is an ideal spot for 4 wheel drivers to base themselves to escape the busier campgrounds and explore the West MacDonnell Ranges. The campground also provides access to Section 11 of the Larapinta Trail.

Explore the ancient landscapes of Finke Gorge National Park, 140 kilometres west of Alice Springs. Walk into valleys of rare plants or follow a popular four-wheel drive route. The 46,000 hectare park protects the desert oasis Palm Valley, home to a diverse range of rare and unique plant species. Those plants include the Red Cabbage Palm, which is only found here - botanic remnants from millions of years ago, when Central Australia was lush with tropical forests. The Finke River is claimed to be one of the oldest in the world, with areas dating back 350 million years. For experienced four-wheel drivers, the popular Finke drive route is an adventurous drive down the Finke River to Illamurta Springs Conservation Reserve and Watarrka National Park. The park and nearby areas are significant to the Western Arrernte Aboriginal people and there is also evidence of early European settlement. Follow one of the marked walking trails short distances to survey the area from lookouts, or to find out more about the mythology of the Western Arrernte Aboriginal culture. Pitch a tent in the campground - toilets, showers and gas barbecues are provided. Camping fees apply and campsites must be booked online before you arrive.

Bushwalk into an area of rich biodiversity at Finke River. The Finke River Trailhead is the trailhead for Sections 10 and 11 of the Larapinta Trail, and only accessible to walkers. The trailhead is near the junction of Ormiston and Davenport creeks where the Finke River begins. Tea-tree bushes grow in abundance here, and there are dense stands of reeds and bullrushes on the western edge of the river. The creeks and rivers are areas of great biodiversity and continuous growth and dominated by towering River Red Gums. Camping is permitted at the trailhead by Larapinta Trail walkers only, and there is no vehicle access to this area. Walker fees and camping fees apply. Multi-day trail use and campsites must be booked online before you arrive. Section 10 of the Larapinta Trail is Grade 3: moderate - a narrow track that may be rough in places, with some climbing and descending, suitable for people who walk regularly. Section 11 of the Larapinta Trail is Grade 4: moderate to difficult - a rough and narrow track with some steep and/or long climbs and descents, suitable for fit people with previous bushwalking experience.

Finley was the first town selected, in the 1800s, for a Pioneer Railway. The rail was extended to Finley in 1898, at a time when NSW was experiencing financial difficulty. The railways saved money by adopting the 'Pioneer Rail Standards' for this, and a few other stations that were connected at this time. The Pioneer system followed the American style to link into regional areas to boost trade and travel but at a low cost due to the harsh economic conditions of the time. Incredibly well preserved, Finley Station is one of the few Pioneer stations still standing and is also host to the Finley Pioneer Railway Museum containing artefacts and real-life railway stories. Take a guided tour with a volunteer and learn about the history of the Finley Pioneer Railway Station or simply have a look around at the on-site railway memorabilia dating back to the 1890s.

Finley Railway Park is a beautiful spot to stop, relax and enjoy some time with family and friends, or just enjoy a quiet space yourself if you are passing through town and needing to stretch your legs. There is a barbeque and seated area situated undercover. It has a great ampitheatre/sound shell which could be used for an event, or perhaps an impromptu family performance! There is a large grassed space to play a game of cricket, football or soccer, or just to spread out and enjoy a picnic. Whatever your reason, Finley Railway Park is a very picturesque place to stop and enjoy some down time.

Fiona Schofield is a formally trained Milliner with a background in design. She trained in Fashion Design and Illustration at The Whitehouse Institute, Sydney, where she specialised in Millinery. She has been working in the industry for just over 30 years, including with Neil Grigg Millinery (Sydney) and Dinosaur Designs (Sydney Head Office) The last 20 years have been spent working under her own label from her workroom in Orange NSW. Working by appointment from her studio, Fiona works closely on each customer order to create handmade hats that look good and feel great to wear. Her primary focus is hats for the every day, but you will also find selected pieces for special events. In May 2026 she opened a small retail space called Schofield & Sly in Dirty Janes Orange where you can shop a selection of her hats alongside vintage fashion, haberdashery and accessories.
