The higher slopes support stringy barks and blue gums. The Heysen walking trail winds its way through the park's native vegetation to the higher slopes and offers excellent views of the surrounding area. Amy Gillett Pathway

The Amy Gillett Pathway is a family-friendly cycling, walking and horse riding trail that runs 22km through the Adelaide Hills. Running north-south through fertile valleys from Oakbank to Birdwood, it offers country vistas, historic townships and wineries along the way. The Pathway is on a dedicated, sealed bitumen track that follows the course of an old railway line and offers a gentle gradient suitable for families, novice riders and walkers. The bikeway can be accessed at many points, with facilities acessible in townships. Beginning at Oakbank, it passes through Woodside, Charleston and Mount Torrens, before concluding at Birdwood. The pathway is named after Amy Gillett, a member of the Australian women's cycling team who was tragically killed while training in Germany in 2005. The pathway was built to encourage people to enjoy cycling and, importantly, to do so in perfect safety. Though loved by locals as a pleasant, traffic-free way to get between townships, the Pathway is increasingly enjoyed by visitors as a way to immerse themselves in rural landscapes, indulge in cool climate wineries and sample the laid-back lifestyle of farming communities in the Adelaide Hills.

Melba's Chocolate And Confectionery Factory

Melba's Chocolate Factory is a 'working' tourism factory located in a heritage listed complex 40 minutes from Adelaide at Woodside in the Adelaide Hills. From 1919 the South Australian Farmers' Cooperative Union made the site famous by producing cheese, butter, margarine and small goods, which were recognised worldwide. This activity ceased in 1976. From 1991, with 1940's era chocolate and confectionery making equipment, the current owners began their dream making old Australian favourite chocolate and confectionery. Visitors today find the old cheese factory transformed into a large emporium-style confectionery factory shop. This is a centrepiece for five different rooms, where various manufacturing processes can be viewed. These are the Chocolate Room, Depositing Room, Packing Room, Panning Room and Toffee Room. Visitors are encouraged to speak to the staff who have mastered the use of the heritage equipment, making old fashioned favourites in the time honoured tradition. An additional interesting feature is the collection of antique and quaint memorabilia from times past, which can be found on display around the factory walls. There's also a Coffee Shop that offers visitors a range of drinks, along with a vast array of flavoured Hot Chocolates. An exciting new addition, for all chocolate lovers who visit.
