Camden Park House

The building and design of Camden Park House began in 1832 and was completed in 1835, a year after John Macarthur's death. Architect, John Verge, designed the mansion in Palladian style with a central two-storey block with one-storey wings and extensions at each side. Camden Park House, which has become one of the great mansions of Australia, is still occupied by the Macarthur family and is thought to be one of the oldest residences in the country still occupied by descendants. The family burial ground is located nearby and is the last resting place of John Macarthur and his direct descendants. Each September, enjoy a rare opportunity to explore the magnificent Camden Park House and its beautiful gardens during the estate's exclusive annual open weekend.

Old Menangle School Site

The Old Menangle School Site Hall & Park

This site was home to Menangle School between 1871 and 1976. In 2008, many years after the school closed its doors, the Department of Education announced the sale and subdivision of the site. The community of Menangle fought hard to save the school from being demolished and in 2013, the site was bought by Wollondilly Shire Council. Planned works were completed in 2024 and the site was reopened as a key recreation destination for families to visit, stay and play for the day. The park has been thoughtfully designed and includes a playground and nature play areas, a multi-purpose half court (interchangeable for basketball or netball), Table Tennis Table, and push-button electric BBQ and shelter facilities.

Garden Mountain Bike Trail

Get on your bikes and rejoice, the Mountain Bike Trails in the Australian Botanic Garden are back! The trails closed in May 2017 due to the discovery of the invasive African Olive weed growing along the course. Since then The Wollondilly Macarthur Mountain Bike Club and their volunteer trail fairies have been working tirelessly to clear out the weed and make the trails rideable again. With assistance from the Australian Botanic Garden and funding from the NSW Government and IMB Bank, the trails are truly some of the best in the region. The Kids Loop (one kilometre) and Family Loop (3.9 kilometre) trails are easy courses for the whole family. The trails are generally smooth with some obstacles and challenges. Suitable for beginner riders and families. The Intermediate Loop (2.5 kilometres) is suitable for mountain bikers with moderate skill. The Advanced Loop (3.9 kilometres) trail is rated intermediate with difficult sections. Includes 70 metres of elevation, jumps, berms, rock gardens, and rock drops and can be fast in some sections. It is suitable for riders with a medium-high level of mountain biking skills. However, it is rideable by most riders exercising some caution on the features or using the B-lines.
