Historical Sites and Heritage Locations
Visitors can discover the stories behind the people, places and events that have helped shape NSW - where the history happened. A Blue Plaque visit offers more than sightseeing. It creates a direct connection between place and story, turning everyday locations into places of discovery. Each plaque reveals a unique piece of history, encouraging visitors to explore local areas from a new perspective and uncover stories they may never have known. This blue plaque commemorates The Camden Red Cross Sewing Circles. These collaborative 'working bees' attracted local women from across the district who were able to use their skills to manufacture clothing and supplies for the war effort during the First and Second World Wars. Visit the blue plaque at Camden Library, 40 John Street, Camden NSW 2570 and scan the QR code there to learn more.

Located inside Camden Library, Camden Museum contains a rich collection of Camden's historical artefacts including photos, maps, clothing, uniforms, furniture, musical instruments and badges. Formed in 195, the Camden Historical Society is instrumental in keeping history alive in the Camden area through the museum and is responsible for the preservation and display of this heritage. The history of the Camden district is as old as Australia itself, and this unique heritage unfolds in the exhibited stories and displays as you wander through the large collection of Aboriginal and 20th-century material, which has been donated by the people of the town and district. These things reflect the everyday and familiar experiences that most people share - joy and grief, recreation and work, caring and learning, past and present. A visit is essential for anyone interested in researching Camden's local history. Free entry, and gold coin donation is appreciated.
