Coffs Creek is an oasis in the middle of Coffs Harbour and offers riders and walkers an easy escape from the city. The trail is a mix of road, bike path, dirt and boardwalks across sensitive wetland environments.
The mangroves and birdlife are a highlight of this ride and the sense of remoteness is remarkable considering you are in a city.
If you continue to the coast, the sweeping vistas will convince you that this is one of the most beautiful regional centres in Australia.
The whole trail takes about two hours but it can be broken down into smaller loops for less experienced riders or for young families.
If you are taking your four-legged friend with you, be sure to keep them on leash as the trail navigates through a variety of landscapes including wetlands with abundant wildlife, beaches, reserves and residential areas.

Accomplished Australian artist Emma Coulter was commissioned to create the signature public artwork for Yarrila Place. Emma has designed a vibrant steel and glass artwork that incorporates painting, sculpture, and engineering. The result is a structure that leaps up the curves of the wall and overlooks the atrium, filling it with colour and light.
Yarrila means to illuminate, brighten, light up or illustrate. The inspiration for Emma Coulter's commissioned work comes from the idea of light refracting on the surface of the water and dispersing into colour.
Emma's work is site-specific, so it was important for the artist and the final artwork to consider the context of the site, the place, and the history. Along with the Gumbaynggirr name, Coulter also drew from the historical significance of the South Solitary lighthouse built on the Coffs Coast in 1878 as well as the architecture of Yarrila Place itself.
Yaamanga (around here) is an ongoing exhibition exploring the history and identity of the Coffs Coast through themes of place, community and belonging, with Gumbaynggirr culture at its heart.
A key highlight of Yaamanga (around here) is the short film, Daalga Nginundi Wajaarr (Sing Your Country), which is informed by Yuludarla's (Gumbaynggirr Creator) journey from north to south exploring miirlarl (sacred places), culture and history through song and cinema. The piece is a celebration of language and its revival and is an invitation for all people to learn the story of this place. It explores untold histories of Country; its triumphs and its sorrow and the dialogue Gumbaynggirr people have every day with her.
Daalga Nginundi Wajaarr (Sing Your Country) was created by Alison Page and Nik Lachajczak of ZAKPAGE. The score is a reworking of a medley of traditional songs by Gumbaynggirr artist, Birrugan Dunn-Velasco, with the inclusion of post-modern instrumentation and sounds from Country.
This artwork is dedicated to the Gumbaynggirr people; it is their ancestral lands upon which we live and work; they who are so generous with their cultural knowledge and lore in the making of this film.
Located on Gumbaynggirr Country in the heart of the Coffs Harbour CBD, Yarrila Arts and Museum (YAM) is a vibrant cultural hub within Yarrila Place. YAM features five exhibition spaces showcasing a diverse program of art, social history and natural history exhibitions.
