The playground's "Landscape of Play" design is influenced by Aboriginal themes and iconic Western Australian landforms. Wellington Square also provides event spaces for medium to large gatherings and multi-use sporting fields developed in partnership with local schools and clubs. With 350 trees offering 60% canopy cover, the park delivers plenty of shade, greenery, and relaxation spots. Visitors can find a place of reflection commemorating the Stolen Generations in the park's northwest corner, as well as an off-leash dog area, footpaths, and shaded picnic areas.
