About this place
What to expect
The Aquarium lives up to its name, offering a front-row seat to the beauty of the Southern Great Barrier Reef. Located within the calm, turquoise waters of Lady Musgrave Lagoon, this shallow wall dive reaches depths of up to 10 metres and showcases the reef at its colourful best. Perfect for non-certified beginners as well as certified divers looking for a relaxed day or night dive, The Aquarium is easily accessed straight from Lady Musgrave HQ's dive platform. One of the highlights is visiting the turtle cleaning stations, coral bommies where resident green, loggerhead and hawksbill turtles pause while reef fish clean their shells. It's an incredible wildlife encounter and a fantastic photo opportunity. The sandy lagoon floor is dotted with large coral bommies that provide shelter for numerous juvenile reef fish, creating what is often described as a nursery within a nursery. Keep an eye out for blue and green chromis, damselfish, Moorish idols, parrotfish and butterflyfish weaving through the coral. You may also spot whitetip reef sharks, giant clams and striking blue linckia starfish, making this a favourite site for both first-time and experienced divers alike.
