About this place
What to expect
For those chasing a fast-paced drift dive at Lady Musgrave Island, the Musgrave Channel is well worth adding to the list. Best explored on an incoming tide, you'll drift into the lagoon through this spectacular channel, which reaches depths of around 13 metres. As you glide along, you'll be surrounded by schools of fish making their way into the lagoon to feed. Fusiliers, trevally, batfish, rainbow runners and surgeonfish are all common sights. The channel walls are lined with small ledges and caves where reef fish shelter from the tidal flow, while the rubble-covered bottom is a great place to spot spider shells, helmet shells and mantis shrimp. It's a dive that keeps the action coming from start to finish, with plenty to see wherever you look.
