About this place

What to expect

Denhams Beach, just south of Batemans Bay on the Eurobodalla South Coast, is a wide stretch of golden sand with plenty of room for everyone. It is the northernmost of three beaches, with Surf Beach and Wimbi Beach, in a large bay-like recess in the coastline, separated by tall headlands and rock platforms. Although set in suburbia, bushland meets the sand here, giving the beach a surprising sense of seclusion in the middle of a popular holiday area. A rocky headland to the north and an outcrop to the south provide shelter, making it a favourite with families. It's the first of the surfing beaches south of Batemans Bay and a popular choice for beginners, with east-facing waves averaging around one metre. Please note the beach is not patrolled. The calm bay around to the left is a great spot for snorkelling, and you may spot a pod of dolphins passing through. A car park at the northern end is reached from Graydon Avenue. A cold-water shower is available, but there are no toilets or change rooms. Dogs are allowed on a time-share basis: before 9am and after 5pm from 1 November to 30 April, and at any time from 1 May to 31 October.
