About this place

What to expect

Standing proudly in Bing Wallder Park, the Big Footie is one of Ungarie's most recognisable landmarks and a tribute to one of Australian football's most celebrated families, the Danihers. Born and raised in Ungarie, brothers Terry, Anthony, Neale and Chris Daniher made Australian football history as the only four brothers to play together in the same VFL/AFL premiership match. The giant 800-kilogram fibreglass Sherrin celebrates their remarkable sporting achievements and the town's proud football heritage. The landmark was created through a community-driven project led by the Ungarie Advancement Group, with support from Bland Shire Council, Triple M Rocks Footy, and funding from the NSW Government. A popular stop for travellers exploring the Bland Shire, the Big Footy offers a unique photo opportunity and a chance to discover the story of the Daniher brothers and their enduring connection to Ungarie. Whether you're a passionate football fan or simply passing through, this iconic attraction is well worth a visit.
