What to expect
The Turkish Coffee in Hot Sand Workshop by Noa Matcha is a hands-on one-hour session at the Broadbeach Community Centre in Mermaid Waters on the Gold Coast. Guests learn the traditional way of brewing Turkish coffee in a copper cezve, slowly heated in a tray of hot sand, guided by a host who explains the customs behind each step.
Each guest brews and pours their own cup, then enjoys it with Turkish delight and baklava. The session finishes with a light-hearted coffee fortune reading from the grounds, a much-loved Turkish tradition.
No experience is needed and all equipment and ingredients are provided. The workshop suits friends, couples and small groups looking for a relaxed cultural experience.
